To prepare for the implementation of the new four-year curriculum, HKU constructed the Centennial Campus, adjoining to the west of the existing Main Campus. This will provide the important additional space to support the University’s core functions of teaching and research as it moves into its second century.
One of the key features of this new campus is the Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, which composes of a 1000-seat Grand Hall, 26 small halls and classrooms, and a black box theatre located below the ground level of the Centennial Campus. Expertly designed with flexible acoustics to support academic and cultural events ranging from lectures to concerts to film galas, the Grand Hall has excellent noise isolation making it perhaps the quietest venue in Hong Kong. Macostar is responsible for the supply and installation of theatre lighting, motorised rigging, curtain track & fabric, and forestage platform system in the Grand Hall, Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre.
