The aluminium truss system features Trabes Euro 29 series, provides the user with an unbelievable loading capacity and versatility.

The Cradle of Creativity

Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre (CMC), the landmark building in the City University of Hong Kong, is a distinctive crystalline shaped, nine-storey complex designed by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind. The building houses the School of Creative Media, providing a stimulating environment and meeting point for professionals from around the world and for student-staff interactions, interdisciplinary collaborations and synergies with industry. One of the most important features in CMC is the Multimedia Theatre (MMT).
The MMT with a flexible staging and a capacity of 224 seating is well equipped with professional performance facilities on audio, video and lighting, and motions capture facilities. Over a hundred high power spotlights are equipped in MMT. They are removable and can be installed on every lighting bar. The eight rectangular aluminium trusses can be raised up or lowered down by their corresponding motorized endurable winches. These lighting and truss systems together with the professional audio system allow any multimedia performances, 3D projections, recoding with a studio audience, motion capture and professional shootings with flexible usage of lighting and splendid audio quality.

Scope of work

Macostar was responsible for the design, supply and installation of the Studio Lighting System, Motorized Truss System and Pro-Audio System in Multimedia Theatre, City University of Hong Kong.
