The glorious handover ceremony of Hong Kong to China was held on 30 June 1997 in the new phase of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Having the new flags flying, Hong Kong started a new era.
Behind the broadcasting of this grand and solemn ceremony that the world focused on, Macostar was undertaking a role of immense responsibility – to provide technical support to China Central Television (CCTV). The tasks included providing equipment and assisting to set up the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) in Beijing and Hong Kong beforehand on a tight schedule.
This half-year project was under careful planning and skilful execution to make sure every stage was proceeding on time smoothly. The objectives achieved when broadcasting of this 72-hour event finally completed successfully.
We are very proud of the trust and confidence from CCTV to give us this assignment, and the mission success earned recognition from the industry as well as the approvals from CCTV. To Macostar, the encouragement came not only from their appreciation, but also from allowing us ready to face more demanding challenges.
